| For about 6 months in 1995 I lived at Crystal Waters, an eco-village
intentionally designed using permaculture
principles. One of the community by-laws gives right of
way to pedestrians, cyclists and animals on all the
roads. This creates / maintains a different atmosphere.
As you drive slowly along the roads, the animals don't
necessarily race away in fear. One evening I was driving home and there were two large wallabies standing at the side of the road, upright, alert, watching. As I drove carefully past they turned around and looked at me, with an expression that seemed to say: "What are you doing here?". |
